Argentina Patagonia Charity Trek
Our trekking region is Los Glaciers National Park, covering more than 6000 square kilometres of southern Argentina offers a remarkable combination of breathtaking glaciers, spectacular mountain ranges, vast emerald green lakes and rare plants and animals. The major attraction to the Park is without doubt the mountain range on the northwest shores of Lago Viedma, which includes the granite pinnacles of Mount Fitzroy (3441m) and Cerro Torre (3128m). |

Mount Frances Climb
Charity Climb Mount Frances summits led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame. A truly unique opportunity to climb a mountain in one of the least visited mountain ranges outside of the Polar Regions. The peak Monte Frances (2,100m) has only received two previous ascents - the first being made by the British mountaineer and explorer Eric Shipton. The remoteness of the Cordillera Darwin Range means that we must access them from the sea. Beginning in the Argentinian port of Ushuaia we will board a chartered ocean going yacht and sail across the Beagle Channel to enter Chilean territory at Peurto Williams on Navarino Island. From here we will sail west along the Channel to be dropped off in the beautiful bay of Caleta Olla. Above the bay we set up camp in virgin southern beech forest, below a small glacial lake. We climb the mountain by its S.E.Ridge, which is a long, but not technically demanding snow ridge. However, the wild and unpredictable weather in this part of the world will make the mountain challenging enough. We will return to Ushuaia by yacht at the end of the trip. The ultimate in wilderness adventures. |
| Climb Aconcagua, Charity Climb Aconcagua, led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame. Cerro Aconcagua, (6,960m) set in the Andes near the border of Argentina and Chile is the highest mountain in South America, as well as the highest peak in the Southern Hemisphere.
The peak has two distinct aspects - the northern side, which is gently angled to the summit, and a huge, steep and complex south face on which the hardest routes up the mountain are to be found. We climb up the northern side of the mountain on what is known as the Falso Route, having approached it via the Vacas and Relinchos Valleys. Utilising the lightly used Plaza Argentina base camp we follow the Polish Glacier Route to its second camp before a rising traverse joins the Normal Route just below the Independencia Hut. The approach and lack of crowds at base camp and on the mountain make this a much more enjoyable experience than doing the standard Normal Route from the Plaza de Mulas. In addition, we begin the trip in Mendoza and finish in Santiago, giving you the chance to experience both of these cities. |
