About Greenland
Greenland is a country with diverse arctic conditions: rocky treeless mountains, dry and boggy tundra, long winding fjords, vast ice sheets and flowing glaciers. The Charity challenegs are beautiful wilderness adventures where the stark reality of how inhospitable nature can be is brought home. Perhaps the greatest achievement of the ancient Inuit culture which has left little evidence of a people that have been around for millennia is the fact that they have survived the elements for thousands of years and thrived in a country that most would regard as uninhabitable.
The ice-sheet or inland ice covers 1,833,900 sq.km - equal to 85% of Greenland's total area and extending 2,500 km north - south and up to 1,000 km east-west. At the centre, the ice is anything up to 3 km thick and represents 10% of the world's total fresh-water reserves.

Greenland Charity Trek
This spectacular charity trek will take us through the World Heritage Kangia Ice Fjord, we will hear the thunder of the Egi Glacier and feel the true force of nature as huge blocks of ice fall away. We will pass by the scenic Disko Bay, watch massive ice-bergs slowly drift by the coast, and witness the beautiful colours of the midnight sun shining off their sculptured shapes. |
